+🏠📂 HOMEDIR provides a small collection of scripts and related files
+ which might be useful in setting up a user account on a Posix
+ machine.
+The name reflects the concept of a “home directory”, altho it is of
+ course not expected that anyone actually use this repository as their
+ genuine home directory.
+
+🛈 For clarity, this repository is a virtualized representation of
+ ⹐my⹑ home directory.
+The scripts contained here·in assume my workflows and conventions and
+ are provided for informational purposes only, so that others might
+ adapt them to their own workflows and conventions.
+
+The `bin´ directory in this repository contains executable symlinks and
+ can be straightforwardly added to ones `PATH´, but beware!
+This will override the behaviour of `git´ and potentially other
+ programs.
+A better solution might be to create a directory (say, `${HOME}/bin´)
+ and add ⹐that⹑ to your path, symlinking from there into this
+ repository to select the scripts you actually understand and approve
+ of.
+
+Not every script in this repository is symlinked from `bin´.
+For example, scripts intended to be used as Git hooks are not intended
+ to be called from the command line.
+
+There is no toplevel overview of what scripts are in this repository or
+ what problems they intend to solve, but the scripts themselves are
