In T·C·G·L, the ranked ladder resets every month, and the recorded
decks represent the final versions of each of our main decks for that

This is a Supporter‐heavy deck that leverages [Altaria
(EVS 106)][EVS-106] and [Kingdra (LOR 37)][LOR-37] to apply constant
pressure on the opponent team.
[Seismitoad (OBF 52)][OBF-52] is strong against the Fire‐type decks
currently prevalant in the meta and has a tendency to trick the
opponent into making faults.
[Mimikyu (PAL 97)][PAL-97] is a good counter to many _ex_‐ and
_V_‐heavy decks and [Radiant Alakazam (SIT 59)][SIT-59] pairs well
with [Toy Catcher][EVS-163] to challenge Basic pokémon that are
sitting on the bench before they get the chance to evolve.
[Thorton][LOR-167] provides an escape route for Basic pokémon into
[Mimikyu (PAL 97)][PAL-97] when under pressure from pokémon _V_, can
bring [Radiant Alakazam (SIT 59)][SIT-59] back from the dead, and can
be used to quickly ramp up an evolved [Seismitoad (OBF 52)][OBF-52]
It is equally useful with [Lumineon _V_ (CRZ GG39)][CRZ-GG39] (either
to escape to a card with lower Prize cost, or to pull a quick Aqua
Return out of nowhere), and to ramp up a [Stoutland _V_
(CRZ 116)][CRZ-116] using a Basic pokémon with less risk.
[Irida][ASR-147] is the core of the deck, allowing quick access to any
Item card to satisfy the current turn’s needs; with an Evolution card
and a [Rare Candy][SVI-191], it can evolve a sitting Basic Pokémon to
Stage 2 in a single turn; alternatively, it can call up an Item card
for acquiring Energy or a non·Water‐type pokémon as well as
[Lumineon _V_ (CRZ GG39)][CRZ-GG39] for requesting another Supporter
card on the following turn.
This deck began as something I quickly cobbled together from the few
cards I had in T·C·G·L which were still acceptable in Standard and
which turned out to be surprisingly strong.
Earlier versions of the deck included [Empoleon (BRS 37)][BRS-37], but
its attack and ability were covered just as well by [Kingdra
(LOR 37)][LOR-37], [Radiant Alakazam (SIT 59)][SIT-59], and [Toy
Catcher][EVS-163] in most cases.
I also tried using [Kingdra (BST 33)][BST-33] in addition to [Kingdra
(LOR 37)][LOR-37] for a time, but [Seismitoad (OBF 52)][OBF-52]
turned out to be better in most cases.
[Altaria (EVS 106)][EVS-106] and [Stoutland _V_ (CRZ 116)][CRZ-116]
were late additions; the former let me lean less on [Lumineon _V_
(CRZ GG39)][CRZ-GG39] for acquiring Supporter cards and has a useful

+ [151 ratatta][MEW-19] is a fun card but it is very easy to boss
target or bench snipe and difficult to set up effectively on an
+ [bibarel][BRS-121] alone is not effective draw suppurrt
+ [iono][PAL-185] was rarely useful in this deck
+ the only thing this deck consistently eradicated was my will to live
